Program Overview
With support from the
US Department of Health and Human Services Child Care
Bureau and Maternal and Child Care Bureau, the American
Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) will continue its efforts
to maximize health promotion in early childhood and
ensure children enter school healthy and ready to learn
by implementing a new Child Care and Health Partnership
(CCHP) program. The project period runs from April 2005
through March 2010 and program goals include:
- Educate child
care providers about evidence-based health and safety
practices.
- Strengthen partnerships
between health professionals and early childhood
professionals.
- Support the
healthy development and school readiness of children
in child care.
- Educate pediatricians
and child health professionals about their role
in promoting quality early education and child care.
Current Information and Opportunities:
On July 1, 2006,
the American Academy of Pediatrics initiated a new Section
on Early Education and Child Care.
